I thought it might be interesting to do another poster design, so I made this illustration for a hypothetical National Geographic show about the origins of industrialization. A major aspect of the first Industrial Revolution was the steam engine and locomotives, so I decided to design the image around that. I started developing the image as a train powering through a forest, clearing the land behind it for civilization. As I worked on the image, I decided to fill the empty space with buildings that become more elaborately planned and technologically advanced as the train moves to the lower right of the image, so the forest aspect was abandoned in favor of a more graphic, less representative design element.
