After the long, deliberate breakdown of Roosevelt's New Deal, a large contingent of hopeless, desperate people were lured, first into a mob-party, and then into an actual mob that attacked America's capitol.
One shouldn't excuse their behavior, but it can be understood quite easily if another instance like this is to be prevented. If a large bipartisan group of a nation's legislators outsource jobs, smash unions, let wages stagnate, and do nothing to help ordinary people live through the effects of their policies, some of those ordinary people will be desperate enough to follow brutes and swindlers who wish to seize power for their own selfish and ideological ends. A measly 600 dollar stimulus check can barely pay rent for a month in a lot of places, let alone undo everything working people have endured.
