For a project in one of my illustration classes, I was given the task of designing a triptych of posters for an event, film, or tourist destination. I chose the city of Boston as my subject because it is a historic city rich in tourist sites, art galleries, and museums that has to compete with neighboring New York and Philadelphia for attention. I decided to take a more modernist, graphic approach to it. A common aspect throughout all of the images is different types of ships, as Boston was an important center of maritime shipping and this is a large part of its identity.
